Financial Independence
CRI introduces ways to think differently about finances through assistance with establishing checking and savings accounts, understanding and repairing credit, and identifying opportunities for financial independence.* Please contact your local Community Resources, Inc. county office for details.
Credit Counseling / Financial Counseling:
- Helping clients improve their credit scores
- Helping individuals understand credit and how to repair it
- Helping clients clear credit issues on credit reports
- Personal and family budgeting counseling
- Personal and family financial records assistance, such as establishing checking and savings accounts
Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP):
- Facilitating customers completion and submission of the LIEAP Application
- LIEAP assists eligible households with the cost of home heating through direct cash payments or payments to utility companies on their behalf. A crisis component is available for households without resources facing the loss of a heating source. Eligibility for both program components is based on a combination of factors, including income, type of heating payment, and total heating costs.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) / Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) / Tax Preparation:
- Providing free E-File tax preparations, both federal and state
- Helping clients obtain federal and state earned income tax credit
- Providing free or reduced rate tax preparation services
- Helping clients obtain federal child tax credit
